Welcome to Primary 2D Class Bulletin Blog. I am Mrs Riz, Form Teacher
of Primary 2D. I started teaching lower primary in 2005 and I had been to many
other schools conducting creative writing workshops and study camps years before
I took up teaching professionally. I will be teaching your child English, Math,
Music, Art, FTGP & PAL. My responsibility as
an educator is not only to equip my students with knowledge but also to let them
have the experience and develop true life skills and moral values. Every child
is unique in his or her own way and he or she can be nurtured holistically. I
believe given the right directions, our children can fully develop their
potentials.

Life cycles of insects
Thursday, February 24, 2011
Dear pupils of 2D,
I've placed a PowerPoint Presentation on the Life Cycles of 5 different insects that we did as group writing. For those who are fascinated with the insects and want to know more, click on the file below and read more about the characteristics of every insect. You may want to write about one of the insects' life cycle as your individual writing.

Our Jan Stars
Friday, February 11, 2011
I want to congratulate the following pupils as they are our January Stars!
Kok Jian Liang is our Star Student of the Month for he constantly produces neat work in class as well as showing improvement in his behaviour. I hope he continues to show good behaviour.
Red Group won the Best Group of the Month award. This group is made up of Alvin, Nurin, Lutfil, Jiaxi, Yu Jie and Hui Xin. I must praise this group because they are always helping one another, cooperate well during group work and they have self-discipline, knowing when to talk and when to stop each time lesson is in progress. I hope with Red Group winning the Best Group, would encourage other groups to do or try their very best to put on good behaviour.
Camillus (1st), Ray (2nd), Cheyenne (3rd) are our Math Quiz winners. They were fast and accurate.
As for the following pupils, I awarded them a stamp on their Individual Incentive Card because even though they are not the top 3 fastest ones but they showed perseverance and managed to get correct answers for the quiz. I am particularly proud because some of them used to be quite weak in Math and not interested to try any challenging Math sums before but now they show great determination. Good job to these pupils!

Note to Parents
Monday, January 31, 2011
Dear Parents and Pupils,
I've given out the Individual Student Details Report Year 2011 to my pupils. Do help me to check your child's profile and do the necessary changes if there is a change in the particulars listed. The form is to be returned to me by 10 Feb 2011 even if there are no changes.
As for CNY clebration in school this Wednesday, I have informed my pupils to bring a small bag, their water bottles, pencil case and they are also highly encouraged to bring 2 oranges to exchange with their peers.
So far for this month, we have managed to cover 2 big books, 'The Underground Dance' as well as 'Chicken Rice' for EL. We did alot of group activities such as the group writing where we wrote about Edmund who came to visit Singapore and wanted to try our local dishes. As for Math, we completed Numbers to 1000 and we hope to finished Addition and Subtraction within 1000 by week 6.
We enjoyed our Art lessons very much and learnt alot from our ePAL programme, Outdoor Education conducted by Mr Ali. Here are some of the pictures snapped by Mrs Riz:

Our 1st and 2nd day of School
Wednesday, January 5, 2011
These two days, I took the time to catch up on things my p2D children did during their school holidays. I managed to share with them about my 1-week trip to Australia, Perth. I believed they enjoyed my photos and places of interest that I visited. Also, for those who have yet the opportunities to go to Perth, or overseas, my experience somehow gave them an insight about how different other countries are as compared to Singapore. We talked about the weather in Perth which I considered as 'cold' summer because of the very cold sea breeze.
We also discussed about how we want to set the class rules. Being more matured now, I gave them the opportunities to make choices as well as working together as a group to think about the class rules. I also let them elect some of their classmates whom they think could be the class monitors. We have yet to decide or do our voting democratically as I would want them to really see if the pupils chosen truly deserve the role as the class monitor as well as having the leadership qualities. I am very proud of them because this time round, it is easier to make them understand the importance of behaving well and having good relationship with everyone in the class. I hope 2D can foster a greater class bond and class spirit!
Just for Parents' information, the spelling list for term 1 will be given latest by Friday. (Parents can also download the softcopy of the spelling list from the embedded link on the right column beside my entry)
Also, this Friday, the school is conducting temperature taking exercise. I need your assistance to check that your child brings his or her thermometer to school. For those who has lost their thermometer, they can purchase one at the school's book store for $4.20. I will be collecting thermometers from my pupils tomorrow and keep them for Friday.
Best regards,
Mrs Riz
